It looks like Kollywood is on a war regarding the dates for Suriya . The actor has just wrapped up the shoot for director Hari's Singam 2 in South Africa and is expected to announce his next film. Suriya’s much awaited film Duplicate (Maatraan in Tamil) in the director of KV Anand (Rangam fame) is gearing up for release on October 12, which means it will hit the screens just one day after Pawan’s Camerman Gangatho Rambabu (Oct 11 release). Bellamkonda Suresh has bought the rights of this film which has Kajal as the female lead for an exorbitant price of Rs 17 crores and has been planning for a wide releasee all over AP. The films of Pawan Kalyan and Suriya never competed at the Box Office until now, but CGR and Duplicate might break that . Although both these stars have a fan base and market of their own, releasing their films without much gap could eat each others collections. Although Pawan will have an edge irrespective of the opponent as his popularity and fan base innumerable, Distributors and Exhibitors were expressing dis-interest on the release dates of these films just because they weren’t ready to take any chances. Following rumors about the much anticipated flick's release date the makers have announced the release date as October 12. Starring Suriya as conjoined twins in parts of the film and Kajal Aggarwal as the lead lady, the film by KV Anand is a commercial entertainer with music by Harris Jayaraj. Maatraan has been canned in various international locales including Russia. The film has some of the action scenes captured using motion capture technology and is Suriya's biggest movie till date. It aims at family audiences and the coming together of the successful Ayan trio and the expectations on KV Anand after the stupendous success of 'Ko' has made the film red hot in trade.

Director KV Anand is said to have invited all the heroines who had paired up Suriya till date. Accepting his invitation to attend the audio of Maatraan in Singapore, Jyothika, Shruti Haasan, Divya Spandana, Sameera Reddy, Asin, Tammannah and others will be there, states sources. Kajal Agarwal, who plays the lead role in Maatraan , will also grace the occasion. Suriya’s brother Karthi is also expected to make it to the audio launch function which is slated to be held on August 9th in Singapore.

Suriya, who is busy with K.V.Anand’s Maatraan, has recently confirmed his next project, which is a 3D film directed by Venkat Prabhu. The director is keen to have Sonam Kapoor in the female lead.Venkat Prabhu, after Ajith’s Mankatha was success signed his next film with Suriya in the lead. An insider says, “Director is eager to rope in Sonam Kapoor for the female lead, as she suits the role better.” He further added, “Prabhu likes, her girl to next door looks and her action as well, any ways he has to discuss about it with Suriya.” K.E.Gnanavelraja is producing Suriya and Venkat Prabhu’s 3D flick under his Studio Green banner. This untitled film has cinematography by Sakthi Saravanan and music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
